Delhi To Launch Yamuna Cruise Tourism
For the first time, Delhi is set to introduce a cruise service on the Yamuna River, with operations expected to begin in May 2026, marking a new phase in urban river tourism.

Announced by Sarbananda Sonowal, the cruise will operate between Wazirabad and Sonia Vihar, utilising a defined stretch of the river to create a structured recreational and tourism experience.

The project is being developed under the guidance of Narendra Modi, focusing on unlocking the tourism potential of inland waterways while enhancing visitor engagement in the capital.

With a capacity of 40 passengers per ride, the cruise will offer a one-hour experience featuring food, music, and entertainment. Both individual and group packages will be available, positioning it as an accessible premium offering.

Infrastructure development is being led by the Inland Waterways Authority of India, including floating jetties, navigational aids, and charging stations for hybrid vessels, ensuring safety and sustainability.
Part of National Waterway 110, the initiative reflects a broader push to develop inland cruise tourism in India, aiming to increase tourist footfall and create new urban leisure experiences.
