Odisha State Watermanship and Lifeguard Institute has launched a residential lifeguard training programme in Konark, Puri, with 176 participants in the first phase. The initiative, supported by National Institute of Water Sports and Odisha Fire & Emergency Services, aims to train 2,000 lifeguards over three years. The programme focuses on rescue skills, CPR, disaster response, and water safety to strengthen Odisha’s tourism infrastructure.
