Cleartrip expands services with train booking integration

Flipkart’s travel platform Cleartrip has launched train ticket booking services in partnership with Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation, the official ticketing arm of Indian Railways. This move aims to simplify travel planning by bringing rail bookings directly into the platform.

The integration allows users to search, book, and manage train journeys within the app itself. By leveraging IRCTC’s infrastructure, the service ensures reliability while offering a smooth and user-friendly interface. This marks a key step in Cleartrip’s goal of becoming a unified, multi-modal travel platform.

Travellers can now access a wide range of features, including bookings under General and Tatkal quotas, real-time seat availability, fare insights, and PNR status tracking. Additional options such as berth preferences and secure digital payments further enhance convenience, making the booking process faster and more efficient.

Industry leaders highlighted the importance of train travel in India’s mobility ecosystem. With millions relying on railways daily, Cleartrip aims to improve accessibility and user experience through technology-driven solutions like predictive intelligence and personalised services.

India’s railway network, operated by Indian Railways, serves around 23 million passengers daily and billions annually, making it one of the largest transport systems globally. This vast scale presents a significant opportunity for platforms like Cleartrip to expand their offerings and cater to growing demand.

Going forward, Cleartrip plans to extend train booking services to its web platform as well. The initiative reflects a broader strategy to create a seamless, end-to-end travel experience, combining multiple modes of transport into one integrated digital ecosystem.
