Global air passenger demand rises 2.1% in March, regional disparities persist: IATA


Global air passenger demand rose 2.1% in March 2026, according to IATA, despite sharp regional disparities. International demand declined 0.8%, while domestic traffic grew 6.5%, highlighting uneven recovery trends across markets amid ongoing disruptions in the Middle East.

The Middle East saw a steep 60.8% decline in demand, while Asia-Pacific recorded 11.5% growth and Europe 7.5%. IATA noted geopolitical disruptions impacted global performance, with domestic markets, led by China and Brazil, driving overall growth as capacity and load factors showed mixed trends.
