MakeMyTrip expands Myra into complete voice travel

MakeMyTrip has upgraded its AI-powered travel assistant, Myra, with new capabilities that allow users to complete the entire travel booking journey through a single conversational interface. Travellers can now search, compare, select and pay for bookings using either text or voice commands.

The upgraded Myra is designed to handle highly personalised and detailed travel requests. Users can ask for specific hotel requirements, family-friendly room options, accessibility features or visa-related guidance during international travel planning. The assistant can also help auto-fill traveller details through passport uploads.

The company revealed that Myra now handles more than three million conversations every quarter. Around 45 per cent of its users come from Tier-2 and smaller cities, showing rising adoption of AI-driven travel tools beyond metro markets. Voice usage is reportedly much higher in non-metro cities compared to urban regions.

One of the biggest additions is end-to-end voice booking support across eight languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and Marathi. Users can now complete bookings without touching the screen. The platform also supports Hinglish conversations, reflecting changing digital behaviour among Indian consumers.

The upgraded version introduces several new features such as smarter autocomplete suggestions, tap-based booking flows, integrated payments and contextual mid-booking assistance. Myra also supports multimodal input, allowing customers to upload images and documents directly into the conversation.

Rajesh Magow said travel bookings involve both dynamic inventory and personal preferences, making AI-driven assistance highly valuable. The company believes Myra’s conversational booking system will simplify travel planning while improving customer engagement and booking conversions.
