South Africa Tourism will promote sports, adventure, wine, heritage, and movie tourism to attract more Indian travellers, said Ismail Dockrat, COO, South Africa Tourism. Speaking at Africa’s Travel Indaba 2026, he highlighted India as one of South Africa’s top five source markets and identified Cricket World Cup 2027 as a major opportunity.
“We need to create the right capacity to take our marketing forward in that market,” Dockrat told TRAVTALK in Durban. He added that South Africa Tourism plans to strategically leverage the Cricket World Cup 2027 to increase destination awareness among Indian cricket fans. The tourism board will also focus on showcasing diverse experiences to tap growing outbound travel demand from India.
