Star Air relaunches Hyderabad–Odisha connectivity

Regional airlines continue expanding beyond traditional metro routes as demand rises for direct connectivity between India’s emerging business, industrial, and tourism centres. Star Air has now relaunched flights connecting Hyderabad, Jharsuguda, and Bhubaneswar, strengthening air links between South and East India.

Star Air announced the relaunch of six weekly flights connecting Hyderabad with Jharsuguda and Bhubaneswar from 21 May 2026, offering both direct and one-stop connectivity between Telangana and Odisha.

The renewed service will operate six days a week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, linking Hyderabad — a major technology and commercial hub — with Odisha’s industrial centre Jharsuguda and state capital Bhubaneswar.

Focus on regional business and industrial travel

The airline said the route is expected to benefit corporate travellers, industrial stakeholders, tourists, and local residents by improving accessibility and reducing travel time across high-growth regional markets.

The corridor also reflects increasing aviation focus on Tier 2 and Tier 3 connectivity as regional carriers look beyond metro-centric operations.

Capt. Simran Singh Tiwana, CEO, Star Air, said, “This route is more than a flight connection, it’s a strategic link for commerce and opportunity between South and East India.”

He added, “By restoring direct access between Hyderabad, Jharsuguda, and Bhubaneswar, we are enabling faster business, attracting new investment, and supporting the vibrant industries and communities that drive these regions forward.”

The airline stated that improved connectivity between the three cities is expected to support business expansion, trade movement, tourism growth, and investment opportunities across Telangana and Odisha.

Regional aviation expansion continues

Star Air currently operates a fleet of Embraer E175 and E145 aircraft with business and economy class seating configurations and onboard meal services.

The carrier, which operates under the Government of India’s UDAN regional connectivity initiative, said it currently serves 31 destinations across India and plans to increase weekly operations from 455 flights to 550 flights during the summer schedule.

The airline also revealed plans to expand its fleet to 25 aircraft over the next 36 months as part of its wider regional growth strategy.

Founded in 2019 as the aviation arm of the Sanjay Ghodawat Group, Star Air has carried nearly 3 million passengers and continues focusing on improving connectivity across underserved and emerging Indian markets.
