Sri Lanka has rolled out a free ETA scheme for travellers from 40 countries, including India effective May 25, 2026. Indian tourists can now apply online for a free 30-day travel authorisation before flying to the island nation. The move comes as Sri Lanka seeks to revive tourism. India remains Sri Lanka’s largest tourism source market, with over 531,000 Indian visitors recorded in 2025. The policy aims to attract more spontaneous, budget-conscious international travellers seeking hassle-free holidays.
