Asego launches visa rejection cover for Indian travellers amid rising uncertainty

With the rise in geopolitical tensions across the globe and changing sensitivities around global immigration, visa-related uncertainties among Indian travellers have increased significantly. In 2024 alone, over 1.65 lakh Schengen visa applications from India were rejected, resulting in losses of nearly ₹136 crore in non-refundable fees and related expenses.

As India’s travel landscape continues to evolve, travellers across destinations are facing challenges related to visa appointment bookings, longer processing timelines and stricter scrutiny; and geopolitical tensions and evolving immigration policies are further contributing to the uncertainty.

Asego’s Visa Rejection Protection is designed to protect travellers against financial losses caused by unexpected visa rejections. The product offers coverage of USD 500 for losses incurred on non-refundable flight expenses, hotel bookings, and prepaid activities, minimizing the financial impact caused.

Commenting on this, Dev Karvat, Founder & CEO, Asego, said, “Travellers commit significant amounts towards booking their trips in advance, which exposes them to considerable financial risk. With this solution, we can address the growing concern of visa rejections and provide travellers with an added protection layer that allows them to plan their journeys with greater confidence and peace of mind.”
