Vietnam will introduce a mandatory health declaration requirement for all international travellers starting July 1, 2026. The new measure is aimed at strengthening health monitoring at borders and ensuring faster identification of potential health risks among passengers entering, exiting, or transiting through the country.
Under the new rules, all travellers will undergo temperature checks and health screenings upon arrival. If a passenger shows signs of illness, quarantine officers may conduct a brief inspection that includes document verification and a short interview regarding travel history and symptoms. Authorities have stated that the process should be completed within two hours.
Travellers will be required to complete the health declaration within seven days before their journey. The declaration can be submitted either electronically or through a paper form. Officials have confirmed that forms will be available in both English and Vietnamese to facilitate smoother compliance.
The health declaration requirement comes in addition to the recently introduced digital arrival form at Tan Son Nhat International Airport. Together, these measures are expected to enhance health surveillance and streamline border procedures.
Vietnamese authorities have also advised travellers to carry vaccination records and other relevant medical documents. Border officials may request proof of vaccination or preventive health measures during entry procedures, making it important for visitors to keep such documents easily accessible.
While detailed procedures and the official electronic form are still awaited from the Vietnamese Ministry of Health, travel industry stakeholders are encouraging passengers to allow extra time at airports during the initial implementation period. The new requirement is expected to become a standard part of travel formalities for visitors to Vietnam.
