Wellness tourism continues to attract significant hospitality investment across India, with operators increasingly targeting destinations that combine spirituality, nature, and experiential travel. Dusit International’s latest signing in Uttarakhand reflects growing confidence in Rishikesh and the surrounding Himalayan region as a long-term hospitality growth market.
Dusit International has strengthened its India expansion strategy with the signing of Dusit Princess Rishikesh, an upscale mixed-use hospitality development planned for the Tehri Garhwal region of Uttarakhand.
The Thailand-based hospitality group has signed a hotel management agreement with Atmosphere, a luxury real estate and hospitality development company, to introduce its upper-midscale Dusit Princess brand to one of India’s fastest-growing wellness and spiritual tourism destinations.
Scheduled to open in 2031, the development will be located in the Himalayan foothills near Rishikesh, a destination that continues to witness growing demand from domestic and international travellers seeking wellness, adventure, and spiritual experiences.
The project will comprise 300 keys, including hotel rooms and luxury duplex villas, and is being positioned as an integrated hospitality destination combining accommodation, wellness, recreation, and lifestyle-led experiences.

Capitalising on wellness tourism growth
The signing comes amid increasing investor interest in India’s wellness tourism sector, which has been supported by rising demand for yoga retreats, spiritual travel, nature-based experiences, and destination-led leisure offerings.
Designed to complement its natural surroundings, Dusit Princess Rishikesh will feature facilities including an all-day dining restaurant, outdoor swimming pool, gym, yoga room, business centre, and flexible event spaces catering to both leisure and corporate travellers.
The development will also include a dedicated clubhouse featuring wellness and recreational amenities such as a spa, infinity pool, squash court, mini-plex, bowling alley, indoor games, and dining facilities.
Industry observers note that destinations such as Rishikesh are increasingly attracting hospitality investments due to their ability to appeal to multiple travel segments, including wellness seekers, adventure enthusiasts, corporate groups, and long-stay travellers.
Strengthening India growth plans
The signing follows the opening of dusitD2 Fagu, Shimla in December 2024 and further expands Dusit’s development pipeline in India.
Siradej Donavanik, Vice President – Development (Global), Dusit International, said: “India continues to be a strategic growth market for our company, with strong long-term potential across both gateway cities and emerging leisure destinations. Rishikesh, with its unique blend of spirituality, wellness, and natural beauty, is an excellent example of the kind of destination where we believe our brands can create meaningful and memorable experiences for our guests.”
Sanchit Jain, Chairman and Managing Director, Atmosphere, said the project aims to create a destination-led hospitality experience that combines luxury, wellness, and nature.
The development underscores the growing role of Uttarakhand in India’s evolving tourism landscape, where wellness and experience-led travel continue to drive hospitality investment and destination development.
