India has great opportunities, yet only Kerala and Goa have meaningfully seized it: EM Najeeb

Kerala is experiencing an influx of GCC tourists during its monsoon season. “Oman now ranks among the top three international source markets for India, while Saudi Arabia and the UAE consistently feature in the top 10, displacing several traditional European markets,” says EM Najeeb, President – Confederation, Kerala Tourism industry.

Looking ahead, the GCC and broader Arab market represents one of the most promising growth opportunities for India’s inbound tourism. These travellers spend generously, travel year-round, prefer family-oriented destinations and show growing interest in wellness, medical, luxury and experiential tourism. India’s direct air connectivity with the GCC alone accounts for over 35 percent of total global airline connectivity to India – a strategic advantage few destination nations can match. Cities such as Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Bengaluru already record strong Arab visitor numbers, both for leisure and medical value travel. The opportunity now is to extend this momentum across a wider range of Indian destinations and market it with far greater focus and ambition.
