Souvagya Mohapatra, Managing Director – India, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka, Atmosphere Core, has been appointed Chair of the FICCI Eastern Region Tourism Committee under the National Tourism Committee. The one-year appointment comes as FICCI continues its efforts to strengthen tourism development across Eastern India.
Mohapatra will serve a one-year term, leading the FICCI Eastern Region Tourism Committee under the National Tourism Committee. The appointment recognises his experience in hospitality, tourism development, and regional market expansion.
With more than three decades in the hospitality industry, Mohapatra currently oversees Atmosphere Core’s operations and expansion across India, Nepal, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka. He also plays a role in the company’s broader Asia-Pacific growth strategy, with the hospitality group expanding its portfolio across the Maldives, India, and the Indian Ocean region.
In his new role, Mohapatra is expected to work with industry, government, and community stakeholders to support tourism development in Eastern India. His responsibilities will include contributing to policy recommendations, promoting capacity-building initiatives, encouraging investment, and supporting efforts to strengthen connectivity, tourism infrastructure, and service standards across the region.
The appointment comes as India’s tourism sector continues to benefit from infrastructure development, growing domestic travel demand, and increasing international interest in the country and the Indian Ocean region.
According to FICCI, Mohapatra’s experience in hotel development, destination promotion, brand expansion, and stakeholder engagement will contribute to initiatives focused on destination marketing, investment promotion, sustainability, and cultural preservation.
FICCI congratulated Mohapatra on his appointment and expressed confidence that his leadership will support the continued growth and development of India’s tourism industry.
