WTTC projects India to become world’s fourth-largest Travel & Tourism economy by 2036


India is on track to become the world’s fourth-largest Travel & Tourism economy by 2036, according to the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC). Gloria Guevara, President and CEO, WTTC, said, “India’s strong domestic market continues to power sector growth, with Travel & Tourism projected to contribute nearly ₹24.9 trillion to GDP and support over 48 million jobs in 2026. Strengthening visa facilitation, international connectivity, infrastructure and global promotion will be crucial to unlocking India’s full tourism potential.”
