AATO Urges PM to Improve Andaman Flight Connectivity

The Andaman Association of Tour Operators (AATO) had written to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on 23 July 2026, seeking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention to address the shortage of flights and exceptionally high airfares to the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

The association expressed its gratitude for the Government’s continued support and major infrastructure initiatives in the Islands, and highlighted that inadequate flight connectivity and high airfares are creating serious challenges for the tourism sector, affecting tourist arrivals and the livelihoods of thousands of people dependent on tourism.

AATO has also requested the Prime Minister’s support in strengthening air connectivity, increasing flight capacity and ensuring more affordable airfares, enabling Andaman & Nicobar Islands to realise their full potential as a leading tourism destination.
