Willie Walsh, who takes charge as IndiGo’s CEO next week, is highly motivated to make a difference at the airline given his deep understanding of both low-cost and full-service carrier models and his extensive experience building industry partnerships, IndiGo Managing Director Rahul Bhatia said.
Walsh, who steps down as Director General of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) on July 31, will take over as CEO of India’s largest airline on August 3, just as IndiGo completes 20 years of operations.
Praising Walsh, a veteran aviation executive and trained pilot, Bhatia said he is “very deep operationally” and will bring significant value to the airline’s operations.
