Delhi Master Plan 2047 targets 24-hour tourism economy with nightlife, heritage circuits, and 695-km metro network


The newly unveiled Delhi Master Plan 2047 proposes developing the capital as a 24-hour city, with designated nodes, precincts, and circuits aimed at attracting tourists and locals. The plan promotes nightlife, tourism-oriented precincts, and heritage walks, while nine indicative cultural precincts have been identified across many areas, including Nizamuddin, Mehrauli, Hauz Khas, and the Walled City. It also targets expanding Delhi Metro’s network to 695 km by 2047 from 416 km, alongside proposed 24-hour operations. The plan is designed for a projected population of 3.2 crore and envisages around 40 lakh new affordable housing units.
