Mumbai-Konkan special trains for Ganeshotsav 2026 have recorded 1,13,428 passenger bookings, generating INR 7.77 crore in railway revenue amid strong demand for festival travel.
Central Railway will operate 200 reserved and 62 unreserved special train trips between August 27 and September 26, while Western Railway will run 54 reserved special trips between September 7 and September 26.
Central Railway has already recorded 1,10,523 bookings, generating around INR 6.23 crore, while Western Railway has received 2,905 bookings worth approximately INR 1.54 crore. Several services have filled rapidly, leaving many passengers dependent on waitlisted tickets.
Railway authorities are preparing additional coaches on selected trains based on demand and will operate additional unreserved services for passengers unable to secure reserved tickets. Temporary reservation counters and crowd-management arrangements are also being put in place.
The Maharashtra government is separately strengthening safety and hygiene preparations for Ganeshotsav, including food-safety measures for prasad, improved roads and lighting on idol procession and immersion routes, and monitoring of firecracker and loudspeaker violations.
With bookings already exceeding 1.13 lakh, the surge highlights the importance of enhanced rail connectivity between Mumbai and the Konkan region during Ganeshotsav, alongside coordinated safety and crowd-management measures.
