VSS Airport, Jharsuguda identifies land for proposed Terminal-2 expansion

Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda has taken a step towards expansion with private land in Durlaga village identified for acquisition. A notification issued on Wednesday marks progress towards the proposed development of a new Terminal-2 at the airport.

The land schedules prepared for the project list several privately owned plots in Durlaga village under Jharsuguda tahasil and district. Separate schedules have been prepared for land falling under Jharsuguda Police Station Nos. 6 and 7.

The documents detail recorded landowners and tenants, along with khata and plot numbers, land classification, Record of Rights area and the extent of land proposed for acquisition. Both individually and jointly recorded holdings have been included in the schedules.

The proposed acquisition is expected to provide additional land required for the expansion of VSS Airport, one of western Odisha’s key aviation facilities. The identification of private plots represents an important step towards taking the airport’s infrastructure expansion forward.

The move comes as the airport seeks to strengthen its infrastructure and accommodate future passenger and operational requirements. The proposed Terminal-2 is expected to form a key component of the expansion plan.

Further details on the acquisition process, including timelines, compensation for affected landowners and the specific infrastructure to be developed, are expected to emerge as the project progresses through subsequent official procedures.
