Keralam is set to roll out the benefits of Industry to tourism business soon. The formal announcement is expected on Oct 9, as the new VD Satheesan govt completes 100 days in power in the state. PC Vishnunath , the state tourism and culture minister has said that the department has completed the stakeholder consultations and entered into inter-departmental consultations to formalise the roll out.
The minister, interacting with select national media, in Kochi, said that the government is also exploring how the single window clearance system available for SMEs could be extended to tourism investments as well to overcome the current approval and permission related delays in projects.
In another major step to decongest the current destinations, Vishnunath said the government would undertake a carrying capacity study soon. He said that the government would identify 20 new destinations each year and open up for private investment with a target to create 100 new destinations in the next five years.
