SUJÁN has announced the acquisition of Chiawa Camp and Old Mondoro from Chiawa Safaris, marking its first significant international expansion beyond India. The move establishes the hospitality brand’s presence in Zambia’s Lower Zambezi National Park and represents a key milestone in its ambition to build a global portfolio of conservation-led wilderness experiences.
Located along the banks of the Zambezi River, Chiawa Camp and Old Mondoro are known for their wildlife experiences, personalised hospitality and focus on protecting the Lower Zambezi ecosystem. Chiawa Safaris has developed a reputation over more than three decades, with an approach to conservation and responsible tourism that aligns with SUJÁN’s established values.
Jaisal Singh, Founder and Chairman of SUJÁN, said Africa’s wildlife, landscapes and conservation initiatives have long held significance for him. He described the acquisition as an extension of the company’s longstanding philosophy that hospitality should contribute to protecting natural environments, supporting local communities and preserving wilderness for future generations.
Anjali Singh, Co-Founder of SUJÁN and Executive Chairperson of ANAND Group, said the expansion reflects the organisation’s continued commitment to authenticity, environmental stewardship and conservation. She added that bringing the two camps into the portfolio brings together two family-founded organisations with shared values, while providing an opportunity to build on Chiawa’s established legacy.
For more than 25 years, SUJÁN has developed wilderness hospitality experiences centred on conservation, responsible resource management and a strong connection to local landscapes. Its camps support habitat protection and restoration while creating opportunities for neighbouring communities. The addition of the Zambian properties extends this approach into one of Africa’s ecologically significant wilderness regions.
Over the next four years, SUJÁN aims to more than double its portfolio through selective expansion aligned with its conservation and hospitality principles. The acquisition supports its ambition to establish an internationally recognised collection of distinctive wilderness camps and lodges across Asia and Africa, strengthening its presence at the intersection of conservation, hospitality and experiential travel.
