The Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism & Hospitality (FAITH), at its Annual General Meeting, held on October 30th, 2026, unanimously decided to defer the elections of its Office Bearers’ positions by a year.
The decision has been taken in view of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Summit scheduled to be held in India in 2027, with the objective of ensuring continuity in leadership and enabling FAITH to focus on maximising the tourism, trade and economic benefits of this landmark international event for the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajiv Mehra, General Secretary, FAITH, said, “Under the leadership of Mr. Puneet Chhatwal, Chairman, FAITH, the successful organisation of FAITH Conclave 2026, which hosted the WTTC CEO and other prominent global tourism leaders, was a significant milestone for Indian tourism. The subsequent approval by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, to host the WTTC Summit in India in 2027, followed by its approval by WTTC, represents a landmark achievement for the Indian tourism industry.”
He further stated that the decision to defer the elections reflects FAITH’s collective commitment to ensuring that the WTTC Summit 2027 is leveraged to its fullest potential, strengthening India’s global tourism positioning, attracting international attention and generating greater economic opportunities for the country.
The FAITH Board of Directors unanimously agreed that continuity of the existing leadership during this critical period would facilitate coordinated industry engagement, effective preparation and the collective efforts required to make the WTTC Summit 2027 a resounding success. The elections for FAITH Office Bearers will accordingly be held in November 2027.
