Gangtok to host 13th International Tourism Mart from 13-16 Nov

The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, will organise the 13th International Tourism Mart (ITM) for the North Eastern Region from 13th to 16th November 2025 in Gangtok, Sikkim. The event will be inaugurated by Union Minister of Tourism and Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, in the presence of Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, and other dignitaries. This edition highlights India’s commitment to developing and promoting the North East as a global tourism hub.

The International Tourism Mart is the Ministry’s annual flagship event aimed at showcasing the immense tourism potential of the North East — India’s “Ashta Lakshmi.” It highlights the region’s natural beauty, vibrant cultures, and adventure opportunities while encouraging sustainable and inclusive growth. The 2025 edition reaffirms the Ministry’s efforts to promote the North East as a preferred destination for eco-tourism, wellness travel, and cultural exploration.

Hosting the Mart in Gangtok holds deep significance. Sikkim is widely recognised as a model for sustainable tourism, known for its pristine environment, organic farming, spiritual heritage, and community-led tourism practices. By choosing Gangtok, the Ministry reinforces its Travel for Life initiative, focusing on responsible travel that benefits both nature and local communities. The event reflects Sikkim’s global reputation as a champion of green and ethical tourism practices.

This year’s edition will see participation from 19 countries, including Spain, Thailand, France, Russia, Germany, and Vietnam. Over 39 international tour operators, 5 influencers, 50 domestic buyers, and 91 domestic sellers will attend. A series of technical sessions, B2B meetings, and panel discussions will address topics such as cinematic tourism, digital innovation, youth entrepreneurship, and sustainability in tourism development. These sessions aim to foster collaboration between global and Indian stakeholders.

Cultural showcases will present the rich music, dance, and crafts of the North East, giving visitors a glimpse into the region’s artistic heritage. Delegates will also visit iconic sites such as Rumtek Monastery, Do Drul Chorten, and the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology. Product presentations will focus on wildlife, river cruises, festivals, handicrafts, cuisine, and adventure tourism, offering a complete picture of the North East’s diverse travel experiences.

The 13th International Tourism Mart at Gangtok represents more than just an event—it is a celebration of the Northeast’s cultural richness and natural wonders. By connecting global stakeholders with regional entrepreneurs and local communities, it reinforces the government’s vision of transforming the North East into a world-class, sustainable, and inclusive tourism destination.
