Nearly half of Indian travellers surveyed by Skyscanner have already travelled internationally for a cultural event, festival, or heritage trail, while another 43% aspire to do so, according to its India Culture Travel Index. Japan, Thailand, and Vietnam feature among the preferred international destinations for culture-led experiences, alongside Italy, the UK, and France. Japan is associated with experiences, including tea ceremonies and samurai history, while Thailand and Vietnam attract interest for street food and traditional crafts. Skyscanner’s findings are based on a survey of 2,000 Indian travellers conducted by OnePoll between June and July 2026.
