Vietnam’s tourism numbers surge, 2.5 million international arrivals recorded in January this year


Vietnam recorded over 2.5 million international arrivals in January 2026, marking a strong tourism rebound. Chinese travellers led the surge, contributing significantly to overall growth, as improved connectivity and visa reforms helped position Vietnam among Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing travel destinations this year

The country has also set ambitious targets for 2026, aiming to significantly exceed pre-pandemic levels. Improved air connectivity, visa policy reforms, and sustained tourism promotion have supported the upward trend.
