Speaking at an ATOAI seminar recently, Harikishore S, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, said that the ministry’s proposed framework seeks the creation of dedicated state adventure tourism regulatory authorities to oversee registrations, audits, and compliance. “Once adopted by state legislatures, these statutory bodies will become the single regulatory authority for adventure tourism. They will regulate operators, appoint independent auditors, enforce transparency, and ensure safety standards remain in the public domain through structured governance systems,” he said.
