PM Modi’s visit strengthens tourism ties with Seychelles, India among the destination’s top 10 source markets

Prime Minister Narendra Modis visit to Seychelles has placed tourism cooperation high on the bilateral agenda, with Seychelles Foreign Minister Sylvestre Radegonde saying the visit will boost collaboration in tourism alongside maritime, trade, and space sectors. India is among Seychelles top 10 tourism source markets, recording around 13,400 visitor arrivals in 2025, up nearly 75% year-on-year.

The destination is currently served by direct IndiGo flights between Mumbai and Mahé, complemented by one-stop connections via carriers such as Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Ethiopian Airlines. “Tourism remains a major pillar of our economy, contributing around 30 per cent of GDP. We already have IndiGo operating four flights per week between Mumbai and Seychelles. However, we are exploring the possibility of expanding connectivity to other Indian cities, particularly Delhi,” Radegonde said.
