Japan has clarified that visa fees for Indian passport holders will remain unchanged at ₹500 for both single-entry and multiple-entry visas, even as revised visa charges come into effect for foreign nationals applying in India from 1 July 2026. The clarification comes amid concerns in the travel trade following the announcement of a new fee structure. Under the revised rules, foreign nationals applying from India will pay ₹8,650 for a single-entry visa and ₹17,350 for a multiple-entry visa. Japan has also discontinued the Transit Visa category for all nationalities, requiring transit passengers to instead apply for a Temporary Visitor Visa.
