South Africa rolls out 24–48-hour ETA for eligible Indian travellers; digital permit allows stays up to 90 days

South Africa has introduced its Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for eligible Indian passport holders, enabling fully online travel approvals with intended processing in 24–48 hours. Valid for multiple entries and stays of up to 90 days, the ETA eliminates visa stickers and is currently available for arrivals through Johannesburg (O.R. Tambo), Cape Town and Lanseria airports. For travel agents, the faster digital process is expected to reduce visa turnaround times, simplify documentation and support last-minute leisure, MICE and business bookings. The rollout is part of South Africa’s broader push to digitise immigration and improve the visitor experience for international travellers.
