BRICS Declaration puts tourism cooperation, smart travel on agenda


The BRICS New Delhi Declaration has identified tourism as a key driver of economic growth, employment, foreign exchange earnings, livelihoods and cultural understanding, while calling for stronger intra-BRICS cooperation. The declaration supports the development of sustainable, inclusive, smart and resilient tourism, with greater use of AI, digital tools and digital payments. It also calls for knowledge exchange on responsible and regenerative tourism, stronger training and institutional capacity, investment and smoother tourism flows. BRICS countries have further backed the promotion of diverse tourism products, including historical, cultural, nature-based, gastronomy and health tourism. The declaration also welcomed the BRICS Tourism Ministers’ Meeting Communiqué held in Jaipur, which focuses on strengthening intra-BRICS tourism cooperation and international competitiveness.
