Mumbai’s weekend travellers are heading far beyond the usual getaway spots, with people on MakeMyTrip travelling to 62 different destinations from the city every weekend, said Abhishek Logani, Chief Business Officer – Hotels, MakeMyTrip, at the 41st IATO Annual Convention. He said the data shows just how varied travel choices have become, with many destinations remaining unfamiliar even to frequent travellers. “From Mumbai every weekend, on our platform, people travel to 62 different destinations. All of us put together will not be able to name 20 of them. That is where personalisation becomes important. We look at who the traveller is travelling with, how far they want to go, what they have booked in the past and what their preferences are, and then use that information along with user-generated content to show them the hotels and places that are actually relevant to them.”
