Adventure Tour Operators Association of India will host a seminar on “Adventure Tourism: Risk Management” at The Park Hotel on May 18, 2026. The event aims to address safety, risk management, and standardisation in one of the fastest-growing segments of the global travel industry.
Adventure tourism has seen rapid growth globally, valued at around USD 683 billion in 2024. India is well-positioned to capitalise on this momentum due to its diverse geography, offering opportunities across mountains, rivers, forests, and coastal regions.
However, safety remains a critical concern for the sector. The seminar will emphasise the need for strong risk management practices to build credibility, attract investment, and strengthen India’s position as a global adventure tourism destination.
ATOAI has set an ambitious goal to place India among the top ten global adventure tourism destinations by 2034. Achieving this will require coordinated efforts, standardised safety protocols, and consistent regulatory frameworks across states.
The seminar will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, and global experts to discuss best practices, safety standards across land, water, and air activities, as well as insurance, legal compliance, and regulatory improvements.
The discussions will lead to the creation of a National Roadmap for Adventure Tourism Risk Management, aligned with global benchmarks. This initiative aims to ensure safer experiences, boost traveller confidence, and support sustainable growth of India’s adventure tourism sector.
