Nearly half of global travel growth is expected to come from Asia-Pacific by 2030, with Gen Z already contributing nearly a quarter of total travel expenditure, according to a report prepared by Euromonitor International in collaboration with PATA. The September 2026 Tourism in Focus report, based on its February 2026 Voice of the Consumer: Travel survey, found that 11% of APAC Gen Z travellers take day trips weekly, compared with 9% of Millennials and 3% of Baby Boomers. Meanwhile, 25% of Gen Z travellers cite value for money as their primary trip criterion. APAC travellers also report spending more on experiences than travellers in any other region. The report further notes that 32% of Gen Z globally use their social media network to influence purchase decisions, compared with 15% of Baby Boomers.
