British Airways has announced a significant expansion of its India operations for the summer 2026 schedule, increasing frequencies and deploying larger aircraft on key routes to meet surging travel demand.
The airline is set to boost connectivity between the UK and major Indian cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad, while also introducing enhanced services to Bengaluru. Notably, British Airways will operate twice-daily flights between London and Bengaluru from June 2026, further strengthening its South India network.
As part of the expansion, additional frequencies are being added on high-demand routes such as Delhi and Mumbai, with the airline also planning to deploy larger aircraft to increase seat capacity during the peak summer travel period.
The move comes as British Airways realigns its global network strategy, shifting capacity away from the Middle East due to ongoing geopolitical disruptions and redirecting resources to high-growth markets like India.
India continues to be a key market for the airline, with strong demand driven by business travel, tourism, and VFR (visiting friends and relatives) traffic. The expansion is also expected to add thousands of additional weekly seats between India and the UK, enhancing travel options for passengers.
With this strategic ramp-up, British Airways aims to capitalise on growing India–UK travel demand while reinforcing its position as one of the leading European carriers serving the Indian market.
