The Centre is providing financial assistance of up to ₹15 crore per museum under the Museum Grant Scheme to establish new museums and modernise existing ones, said Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Minister of Culture and Tourism. Government-owned museums in State capitals are eligible for grants up to ₹15 crore, while Category II and III museums can receive up to ₹10 crore and ₹5 crore respectively for new museums. The scheme also provides up to ₹50 lakh for digitisation projects and supports virtual museums, capacity building, and heritage preservation nationwide.
