Commercial flights shift to Bhogapuram from 17 Aug; Vizag airport to cease civil operations


All commercial flight operations currently handled at Visakhapatnam Airport (INS Dega) will shift to the newly built Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram from 00:01 hrs on 17 August, following the airport’s inauguration on 1 August. Airlines are updating schedules and passengers with bookings beyond August 16 will operate to and from Bhogapuram instead of Vizag. The greenfield airport, developed at a cost of ₹4,727 crore, has an initial annual passenger handling capacity of 6 million, scalable to 40 million, and features a dedicated cargo terminal and runway capable of handling wide-body aircraft.
