Cygnet Hotels expands Bihar presence with Motihari signing

Hotel groups are increasingly accelerating expansion into India’s emerging regional markets as business activity, infrastructure growth, and domestic travel demand reshape hospitality development beyond metro cities. Cygnet Hotels & Resorts has now expanded its Bihar footprint with a new signing in Motihari.

Cygnet Hotels & Resorts announced the signing of Cygnet Inn Motihari, a 70-key brownfield hotel project in Bihar’s East Champaran district, further strengthening the company’s presence across Tier II and Tier III destinations.

The upcoming property will operate under the company’s midscale Cygnet Inn brand and is expected to become operational by the end of 2026.

Focus on regional business and event demand

Located in Motihari, a city witnessing rising commercial activity and improving connectivity, the hotel has been planned to cater to business travellers, leisure guests, social gatherings, and event demand in the region.

The development will feature 70 rooms along with facilities including an all-day dining restaurant, gymnasium, spa, and swimming pool.

A major focus has also been placed on banqueting and event infrastructure, reflecting growing demand for organised wedding and social event venues in emerging Indian cities.

The property will include a 5,500 sq. ft. banquet hall connected to a 17,000 sq. ft. outdoor lawn alongside two dedicated meeting spaces designed for conferences, corporate events, and private functions.

Tier II and III expansion gains momentum

Sarbendra Sarkar, Founder and Managing Director, Cygnet Hotels & Resorts, said, “Hospitality demand in India is increasingly expanding beyond traditional metro markets.”

He added, “We are witnessing growing demand for quality branded accommodation and event infrastructure across emerging cities, driven by regional economic activity, improving connectivity, and evolving travel patterns.”

According to the company, Motihari’s historical significance, linked to Mahatma Gandhi’s Champaran Satyagraha movement, combined with increasing educational and business movement, continues to drive organised hospitality demand.

Cygnet Hotels & Resorts currently operates across upscale, midscale, and budget segments through brands including Cygnet, Cozzet, and Cygnet Inn.

The hospitality group also maintains a strategic association with Wyndham Hotels & Resorts as part of its wider expansion and service enhancement strategy.

The latest signing further reflects increasing hospitality investment into smaller Indian cities where rising economic activity and improved infrastructure are driving demand for branded accommodation and event facilities.
