Despite drop in global patients, Indian hospitals report higher revenues from MVT in FY2026

Hospitals across India have reported higher revenues from Medical Value Tourism (MVT) in FY2026 despite a decline in overall international patient volumes. Fortis Healthcare said it posted an 18.5% YoY rise in MVT revenues to Rs`639 crore despite flight disruptions due the West Asia conflict. Patients from Africa, the Middle East, and neighbouring Asian countries continue to visit India for cardiac care, organ transplants, orthopaedics, and wellness treatments. Hospitals have also benefited from improved digital consultations and international partnerships. Healthcare providers believe India’s cost advantage, skilled doctors, and expanding healthcare infrastructure will continue to support growth in medical tourism despite global economic and travel challenges.
