DGCA to increase weekly flights for summer schedule in India

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has announced a 5.5% increase in weekly domestic flights for the Summer Schedule 2025, running from March 30 to October 25, 2025. Indian carriers will operate 25,610 weekly flights across 129 airports, up from 24,275 departures last year.

As part of the expanded network, seven new airports will see flight operations, including Ambikapur, Datia, Bidar, Porbandar, Pakyong, Rewa, and Solapur. However, operations from Azamgarh and Rupsi airports have been suspended for the summer season.

Leading the charge, IndiGo will operate the most weekly domestic flights with 14,158 departures, followed by Air India (4,310) and Air India Express (3,375). Meanwhile, SpiceJet faces a 25% reduction in slots, down to 1,240 weekly departures.

Regional carriers have also been affected—Alliance Air and Flybig have seen sharp decreases of 41.96% and 30.98%, respectively. In contrast, Fly 91 has witnessed remarkable growth, increasing 515% to 123 weekly departures compared to just 20 last summer.

With increased connectivity and new destinations, Indian aviation is set for a dynamic and competitive summer season.
