Dr Srivatsa Krishna to replace V Vidyavathi as Secretary Tourism


In a minor reshuffle in top bureaucracy, the government has replaced V Vidyavathi with another Karnataka cadre officer, Dr Srivatsa Krishna as Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism.

In a late-night order by the Cabinet committee on appointments, the government has effected a minor reshuffle in the top bureaucracy. The appointment committee of the cabinet has appointed seven new secretary-level officers, including heads of the oil, telecom, tourism, and agriculture ministries.
As per the appointments committee order, V Vidyavathi, the current secretary in the tourism ministry will be replaced by another Karnataka cadre IAS, Dr Srivatsa Krishna.

Srivatsa Krishna, IAS, a 1994 Karnataka cadre officer, will take over as the incumbent. V Vidyavathi, moves to the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities in the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment as Secretary, the order says.

Dr Krishna, a post-graduate in International Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University Delhi, is a PhD in Management from IIT Madras and an MBA from Harvard University. Before his new role as Secretary – Tourism, Dr Krishna has served as Secretary Commerce and Industry in Karnataka, Chairman Urban Administration and Development, Secretary E-Governance, Director of IIT Madras and IIM Bangalore, and Group Program Manager for World Bank Group.
