Geneva Tourism targets Indian leisure travellers

Geneva Tourism, along with Manotel Hotel Group Geneva and Initium, is stepping up efforts to attract Indian leisure travellers and position Geneva as a holiday destination in the Indian market. The partners recently hosted a select group of media representatives at a luncheon at Kathiwada House in Worli, Mumbai.

Adrien Genier, CEO, Geneva Tourism; Mathieu Gigandet, CEO, Initium; and Jean-Nicolas Trens, Sales and Marketing Director, Manotel Hotel Group Geneva, presented the destination and highlighted its local transport network and experiences designed for Indian visitors.

As the European headquarters of the United Nations, Geneva has traditionally attracted diplomatic and business-to-government visitors. The destination is now looking to broaden its appeal among first-time and repeat leisure travellers, with a focus on visitors from India’s key metropolitan markets.

Geneva is being positioned for FITs, honeymooners and small groups seeking a combination of urban experiences and natural surroundings. With Switzerland already enjoying strong popularity among Indian travellers, the destination is encouraging visitors to consider Geneva as their first point of entry into the country and use it as a base to explore the region.

The representatives highlighted Geneva’s multi-modal public transport system as one of its advantages for visitors. The destination also offers a range of Indian dining options alongside international cuisine, making it easier for Indian travellers to explore the city while enjoying familiar food choices.

Another experience being promoted is watchmaking, with Indian visitors given the opportunity to explore the craft and design and create exclusive timepieces. Through its combination of transport accessibility, culinary options, natural attractions and specialised experiences, Geneva Tourism and its partners are seeking to strengthen the destination’s appeal among India’s growing leisure travel market.
