GharOnGo, a homestay discovery platform, is focusing on locally hosted stays that combine accommodation with opportunities to experience destinations through their hosts, communities and local culture.
Founded in 2018 with a single cottage in Mukteshwar, Uttarakhand, the platform says its network has expanded to more than 1,200 homestays across India. Its portfolio includes homes, villas, cabins and apartments across a range of destinations.
Travellers can explore properties based on interests such as nature and wildlife, wellness, adventure, spirituality, food, local culture, workations and family holidays. The platform aims to provide options beyond conventional hotel-based accommodation.
GharOnGo’s model connects travellers directly with local hosts rather than operating the properties itself. Hosts can list their accommodation and interact with potential guests, while travellers can access information on amenities, photographs, property details and destinations before making enquiries or bookings.
Mukesh Singh Negi, Founder of GharOnGo, said homestays can offer travellers an opportunity to understand local communities, food and everyday life. He added that the platform aims to make locally rooted properties easier to discover while helping hosts showcase the character of their destinations.
With a significant presence across Uttarakhand and properties in other parts of India, GharOnGo reflects growing interest in experiential and slower forms of travel. Its digital model also brings smaller, independently operated properties into the organised travel discovery ecosystem while retaining the personal experience associated with homestays.
