Indian travellers planning quick getaways around the upcoming festive long weekends are gravitating toward a mix of domestic and international destinations, according to Agoda’s latest accommodation search data. Based on searches conducted between May 1 and July 31, 2026, the data reveals traveller preferences for the Rakshabandhan and Janmashtami long weekends, spanning monsoon-friendly hill stations, beach destinations, cultural hubs and popular international hotspots.
For the Rakshabandhan long weekend, Goa emerged as the most-searched domestic destination on Agoda, followed by Mumbai and Puri. Goa’s monsoon charm makes it a particularly appealing choice during this period, with lush green landscapes, waterfalls and its scenic hinterland coming alive during the season. Mumbai follows closely behind, offering travellers a quick city break centred around food, culture and entertainment, while Puri in third place combines two distinct experiences—a visit to the iconic Jagannath Temple alongside a relaxing beach escape. Other destinations rounding out the domestic top choices include Ooty, Munnar, Lonavala and Varanasi, reflecting a mix of monsoon getaways and spiritual travel interests.
On the international front, Singapore, Bali and Bangkok emerged as the top three most-searched destinations for the Rakshabandhan break. Singapore continues to draw travellers with its diverse neighbourhoods, attractions, gardens and renowned hawker culture, while Bali remains popular for its beaches, temples and cultural experiences. Bangkok, meanwhile, appeals to travellers seeking temples, street food and a lively urban atmosphere. Other favoured international destinations include Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Tokyo, London and Paris, offering travellers a wide range of options across Asia and beyond.
For the Janmashtami long weekend, Goa once again claimed the top spot among domestic destinations. Udaipur followed closely in second place, drawing travellers with its scenic lakes and grand Mewar-era palaces, while Mumbai rounded out the top three. The domestic list also includes Pondicherry, Chennai, Jaipur and Leh, reflecting growing interest in coastal, heritage and mountain destinations—with Leh in particular offering a distinctly different experience through its Himalayan landscapes and Buddhist monasteries.
For those considering an international getaway during Janmashtami, Singapore, Dubai and Bali emerged as the top three choices. While Singapore and Bali remain consistently popular, Dubai offers travellers a different style of holiday, blending its dynamic cityscape with desert adventures and experiences. Other destinations featured in the international top 15 include Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Phuket, the Maldives, Hong Kong and Hanoi.
With both long weekends offering a strong mix of domestic and international options, Indian travellers appear ready to make the most of the festive breaks through short getaways—whether that means chasing monsoon landscapes in Goa or flying overseas for a quick city or beach escape.
