The Centre has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting India’s aviation sector during periods of external disruptions, with Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu stating that the government is prepared to intervene whenever global events impact airline operations.
Speaking on the sector’s resilience, the minister said the government introduced several measures during the recent West Asia crisis to cushion airlines from rising operational costs. These included capping aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices, limiting airport charge increases, extending credit support to airlines, and creating a INR 10,000-crore fund to help address fuel price volatility.
Naidu said the initiatives were aimed at ensuring operational continuity, protecting airlines from sudden financial stress, and maintaining seamless air connectivity for passengers despite geopolitical uncertainties.
The minister reiterated that the government remains committed to strengthening India’s aviation ecosystem through timely policy interventions and continued support, ensuring the sector remains resilient in the face of future external shocks.
