Gujarat likely to announce new hotel and tourism policy ahead of 2030 Commonwealth Games

The Gujarat government is likely to announce a new hotel and tourism policy by August end. Tax concessions, higher FSI and faster approvals are all on the table, aimed at pulling investment into the hospitality sector. The policy won’t focus only on Ahmedabad and other major cities. Smaller cities and towns are part of the plan too, where the government wants more hotel rooms built ahead of the 2030 Commonwealth Games.

Wellness centres are also set to come under the policy’s ambit, according to a senior government official, with incentives being considered to promote medical tourism. The concept of wellness centres is relatively new to Gujarat. Most such centres are concentrated in the southern states.
