Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has signed a greenfield project for a 300-key Taj hotel in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu, with Setupuram Hotels & Resorts. The Taj Rameswaram will be developed in phases across 70 acres and include a wellness centre, two speciality restaurants, a bar lounge, pool bar, swimming pool, fitness centre, spa and meeting and convention facilities. The project will have direct beach access near Pamban Bridge and connectivity to NH87. IHCL said Rameswaram’s infrastructure upgrades include the four-laning of NH87, railway station redevelopment and a proposed domestic airport in the region. The company said the addition will take its Tamil Nadu portfolio to 35 hotels, including 16 under development. IHCL has 660 hotels globally, with 274 in development pipeline.
