The country improved nine places from the recalculated 2024 position and recorded a 4.3% score increase between 2024 and 2026. India is among 10 major emerging tourism economies identified by the WEF as important sources of future growth. Together, these economies account for more than 28% of global direct travel and tourism GDP, projected to reach 35% by 2035.
