Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) has completed a ₹2-crore modernisation of Kochi International Marina at Bolgatty Island, with authorities targeting 40 yacht arrivals in 2026 following the upgrade. The marina had recorded only 46 yacht arrivals between 2020 and 2025, including 11 in 2022 and 13 each in 2023 and 2024. Five yachts had arrived by June 2026.
The upgraded marina can berth 32 yachts and has already received two vessels after the work was completed. KTDC said it is receiving enquiries, including from yacht operators planning stays of three to four months. The facility has undergone critical infrastructure repairs, dredging and piling to increase water depth, berth replacement and security-system upgrades.
Officials said yachts visiting Kochi are typically 35–60 feet, with luxury yachts of up to 80 feet also calling at the marina. Key source markets include the US, UK, New Zealand, Maldives, the Middle East and Australia. The marina is also expected to support the proposed Kochi–Lakshadweep seaplane initiative.
