MakeMyTrip has partnered with the Ministry of Tourism to offer more than 350 guided tours across over 60 cities, bringing local guides and destination experts directly onto the travel platform. The tours will be available for booking from August 15, with the catalogue expected to expand further over time. The partnership aims to improve traveller access to curated local experiences while giving guides, local experts and communities greater visibility within India’s broader tourism ecosystem.
Union Minister of Tourism & Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said guides, local experts and communities form the backbone of India’s tourism value chain, adding that the partnership gives them a direct opportunity to reach travellers and share India’s stories with a wider audience.
The initiative also seeks to encourage travellers to engage more deeply with destinations through guided experiences, moving beyond conventional sightseeing toward more immersive, locally rooted travel.
Rajesh Magow, Executive Director & Group CEO of MakeMyTrip, said the partnership places guides and local experts at the centre of the travel experience, while also creating opportunities to showcase these offerings through curated and user-generated content, helping bring greater authenticity to how travellers discover and book experiences.
The collaboration comes as travel platforms increasingly expand beyond traditional accommodation and transport bookings into experiential tourism, with guided tours, local activities and community-led experiences emerging as a growing focus area within the broader travel industry.
