MMT Foundation partners with DTTDC to revamp Dilli Haat experience

MakeMyTrip’s foundation arm has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation to enhance Dilli Haat INA, one of the capital’s most iconic cultural and shopping destinations. The collaboration aims to improve infrastructure while preserving the space’s traditional charm and importance for artisans.

For over three decades, Dilli Haat-INA has served as a vibrant marketplace where artisans from across India—from Kashmir to Kanyakumari—showcase their crafts. It remains a key hub for tourists, students, and families looking to experience India’s diverse cultural heritage in one place.

Under this partnership, the focus will be on upgrading visitor amenities. Plans include improved landscaping to enhance the open-air environment, better pathway and promenade lighting to ensure safety during evenings, and upgraded washroom facilities to improve hygiene and overall comfort for visitors spending extended time at the venue.

Rekha Gupta highlighted that Dilli Haat-INA plays a vital role in Delhi’s cultural identity and aligns with the government’s vision to promote a strong night tourism economy. She noted that such initiatives will help position Delhi as a leading global tourism destination while supporting local artisans.

Kapil Mishra emphasized that the space has always connected artisans with visitors and that collaborations like this help deliver meaningful improvements. Meanwhile, Suneel Anchipaka added that better lighting and infrastructure will make the haat more inviting for evening visitors.

Rajesh Magow stated that the initiative reflects the foundation’s commitment to responsible tourism by supporting local communities, preserving cultural heritage, and enhancing visitor experiences. The project is expected to strengthen Delhi’s tourism ecosystem while ensuring sustainable growth for artisans.
